John Grogan

10/19/2009 7:00 pm

Before there was Marley, there was a young boy growing up in Detroit in the 1960s and '70s. As a mischievous boy in a devout Catholic home, John had a hard time living up to his loving parents' expectations. But things eventually began to change when he fell in love with a strong-willed woman named Jenny and started the journey out of his parents' orbit and into his own life. It would be a phone call and word of illness that would send John on his way back home again. John Grogan traces his journey to adulthood in his latest memoir, The Longest Trip Home.
