Pat the (Great) Cat: Children of the Americas tell a true story of a very noble jaguar. Pat the Cat is a very real jaguar from the beautiful country of Belize, Central America. His story is true! Now, because jaguars try to stay far away from people, no one came to know about Pat until his first unfortunate contact with humans. Because of this, the story of his early life is based upon how we know jaguars live in the wild. Certainly he had a mother, and very likely at least one sister (or brother). Pat’s life, before people moved into his territory, is based upon what is likely to have happened to him. But each and every fact thereafter really happened.
